1001 Albums You Must Hear (and Blog about) Before You Die

My attempt to blog all of the entries from the book 1001 Albums to Hear Before You Die

571. Eternally Yours – The Saints

Original album is tracks 1-13

Brief Background: Eternally Yours is the second album by the Australian band The Saints. The album was recorded in late 1977 and released in May of 1978.

What I think: I don’t often have an album come out of left field and be completely unknown to me (at least in the rock or punk rock genres), but this one sure did. I’d never even heard of these guys forget ever hearing their music.

It ended up being a pretty good album too. It’s some straight ahead punk rock at times, and others there is a horn section mixed in that feels like it could have been an influence on London Calling and still others it’s almost an eighties college rock sound.  The college rockish sound is my favorite with “Memories Are Made of This” “A Minor Aversion” and “Untitled” being my picks as the best songs on the album.

Do I agree or disagree with the writers as to this being an album you must listen to? I’m glad it’s here and I’m glad I heard it. I may even dig deeper and check out more from the band.

Rating (Out of 5): 3/5

Amazon Rating of Eternally Yours:  4.7/5

Today I started new position as an Academic Librarian at Normandale Community College. Half of my time will be spent on reference and the other half on classroom instruction. I'm very excited to utilize the skills I have, but more importantly learn a zillion new things about librarianship!
