1001 Albums You Must Hear (and Blog about) Before You Die

My attempt to blog all of the entries from the book 1001 Albums to Hear Before You Die

581. D.o.A: The Third and Final Report – Throbbing Gristle

Brief Background: D.o.A…  is second album from the experimental group Throbbing Gristle. It was recorded from September 1977 to May 1978 and was released that December.

What I think: The premise of this album: Let’s get stoned, set our portable tape players to record and catch the noise around us. Some people will think we are brilliant.

I can’t believe this took eight months to record the whole of it sounds like it could have been done it an afternoon. It is without a doubt the worst album I’ve had to listen to. I had to stop it and one point while driving, because I was falling asleep. The only “song” that has any redeeming qualities is “AB/7A” for its Kraftwerk like elements.

Do I agree or disagree with the writers as to this being an album you must listen to? No, no, no! This is not music, it is background noises.
