1001 Albums You Must Hear (and Blog about) Before You Die

My attempt to blog all of the entries from the book 1001 Albums to Hear Before You Die

585. Duck Stab / Buster and Glen – The Residents

Brief Background: Duck Stab / Buster and Glen is the 1978 album by the art collective The Residents.

What I think: When I look back on the Mothers of Invention (We’re Only in it for the Money and Freak Out) or the Captain Beefheart albums (Safe as Milk and Trout Mask Replica) , things all of the sudden seem so quant. I feel like an old man as I type this, but it’s hard to even classify this as music. It couldn’t have taken more than to minutes a song to write the lyrics. The “music” backing them took a little more time, but not much

Do I agree or disagree with the writers as to this being an album you must listen to? It’s a pile of crap and one of the first times in this project I feel like I didn’t get anything out of it.

Rating (Out of 5): 0/5

Amazon Rating of Duck Stab:  4.7/5

Is this my first time hearing this album? Yes (319/417)

Today I started new position as an Academic Librarian at Normandale Community College. Half of my time will be spent on reference and the other half on classroom instruction. I'm very excited to utilize the skills I have, but more importantly learn a zillion new things about librarianship!
