598. New Boots and Panties!! – Ian Dury

Original album is tracks 1-10

Brief Background: New Boots and Panties!! is the debut album by Ian Dury. It was recorded in London during off hours through 1977 and was released in September of that year.

What I think: You know how when something starts to annoy you and slowly works it’s way under your skin and it just keeps getting worse and worse. That’s what has happened here. And it wasn’t all that bad until “Billericay Dickie”. That song not only forms a blister, but it also pops and gets rubbed against. It’s just awful. I can’t stand that Cockney British humor. It’s not funny to me and it’s not cute. on top of that it’s all horrible rhyming, and it makes my want to put my head in a microwave. Then “Billericay Dickie” is followed by “Clevor Trevor” and we have another five minutes of horrid rhyming and… O’ God make it stop.

Do I agree or disagree with the writers as to this being an album you must listen to? If you ever have company that won’t leave put this on… that should do the trick.

Today I started new position as an Academic Librarian at Normandale Community College. Half of my time will be spent on reference and the other half on classroom instruction. I'm very excited to utilize the skills I have, but more importantly learn a zillion new things about librarianship!
