1001 Albums You Must Hear (and Blog about) Before You Die

My attempt to blog all of the entries from the book 1001 Albums to Hear Before You Die

681. Country Life – Roxy Music

Brief Background: Country Life was recorded during July and August of 1974 and released in November of the same year. This is the second Roxy Music album without Brian Eno.

Since I’m a bit of a prude, I have posted the alternative cover as the featured art, you can see the real cover here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Country_Life_(Roxy_Music_album)

What I think: I really felt the same way about this album that I did about For Your Pleasure, and that is really nothing. It just bores me and I can’t wait for it to be over. I was trying to consider the context of which it would have been released and think about how that might change my feelings about it. They don’t change, it’s just plodding unexciting rock music.

Do I agree or disagree with the writers as to this being an album you must listen to? Skip it… OK… OK… What’s next?

Rating (Out of 5): 1

Country Life Amazon Review (Out of 5): 4.5

Is this my first time hearing this album? Yes (249/321)

Percentage of Albums that are new to me: 77%
