1001 Albums You Must Hear (and Blog about) Before You Die

My attempt to blog all of the entries from the book 1001 Albums to Hear Before You Die

710. Solid Air – John Martyn

Brief Background: Solid Air was recorded in December of 1972 and released in February of 1973.

What I think: There is exactly one good song on this album and that is song #2. That song is titled “Over the Hill”. The song sounds like Nick Drake and it is really good, Drake and Martyn were friends. The rest is awful acoustic jazz music with even worse lyrics that often describe the evil the narrator is heading towards.

Do I agree or disagree with the writers as to this being an album you must listen to? Just skip this one and put on a Drake album.

Rating (Out of 5): .5

Solid Air Amazon Review (Out of 5): 4.5

Is this my first time hearing this album? Yes (224/292)

Percentage of Albums that are new to me: 78%
