1001 Albums You Must Hear (and Blog about) Before You Die

My attempt to blog all of the entries from the book 1001 Albums to Hear Before You Die

714. Future Days – Can

Brief Background: Future Days was recorded and released in 1973.

What I think: I remember that I was really surprised by how much I enjoyed Can’s Tago Mago and I was looking forward to listening to this album as well. While still experimental, this album is certainly a different style. Where Tago Mago built to insane climaxes,  this is just a steady – what their Wikipedia article describes as “ambient” – sound. It really almost reminds me of The Beastie Boys In a Sound From Way Out, or even at points of something from The Go! Team. And while I love those sounds, coming from Can, I think I like the more immediate Tago Mago.

Do I agree or disagree with the writers as to this being an album you must listen to? Another cool listen from Can, I’m glad it is here.
