1001 Albums You Must Hear (and Blog about) Before You Die

My attempt to blog all of the entries from the book 1001 Albums to Hear Before You Die

905. Francis Albert Sinatra and Antonio Carlos Jobim – Frank Sinatra and Antonio Carlos Jobim

Brief Background: Francis Albert Sinatra… was recorded in early 1967 and released in March of the same year. The album was the first of two albums the pair did together, with the second only getting a brief release on 8-track in 1970. This album was nominated for Album of the year at the 1968 Grammy’s.

What I think: This album was a really nice change from the heavy psychedelic albums that have been featured lately. It seems like a throwback to a simpler bygone time…. 😉  I particularly liked their version of “The Girl from Ipanema” as their voices work great together. Other than that though the music stayed in the background for me and I had a tough time keeping my attention on it. That’s OK though it was very relaxing.

Do I agree or disagree with the writers as to this being an album you must listen to? I don’t know that it should, it seems like something Sinatra had done on every album and that this really wasn’t anything special for him.
