1001 Albums You Must Hear (and Blog about) Before You Die

My attempt to blog all of the entries from the book 1001 Albums to Hear Before You Die

925. YardBirds – The Yardbirds

Brief Background: Yardibrds was recorded in the Spring of 1966 and released that July. The album is known under multiple titles as Yardbirds, Roger the Engineer and Over, Under, Sideways, Down.

What I think:Like the Blues Breakers album before this, Yardbirds doesn’t do much for me. Most of this is dark and cryptic psychedelic rock, but there are a couple of decent pop tracks in the middle like “Farewell” and “Hot House of Omagararshid” which has a cool surf rock mixed with psychedelic rock feel.

Do I agree or disagree with the writers as to this being an album you must listen to? Not my thing, I’d leave it out.

Rating (Out of 5): 2.5

Amazon Review (Out of 5): 4.5
